Hi,

I have a 2008 RRS. Bought needing work. Runs, but aux drive belt keeps going off.

I'm confident it's the ACE pump misaligned, but how do I realign it? I'm guessing it could be missing a bolt at the back - is this accessible (, doesn't look it).

Any advice gratefully received

Hi Mark,

Yes, I've got a new belt and tensioners - so will changing all of those. Just need to confirm options to re-align the ACE :)
It may just be worn out components. The only way to confirm anything is change it all and see what happens from there👍

The ACE is 100% misaligned. The previous owner changed the engine, so I need to get the ACE sorted in the first instance, then work through the rest :)

So is it forward or backards to where it should be?

J
So, the side nearest to the centre of the engine is tilted inward (hope that makes sense). You can just about see it in the photo

What engine did he use (from which vehicle)?
Which ancillaries did he keep or change?

Has something been mixed from both that doesn't match?

J
He has disappeared... However it has a LR engine, so not a Jag one which may have a whole series of other ancilliaries.

:vb-lol: That convenient.

I guess you need to get dirty and have a good look around (from underneath) take off some more stuff to get a good look to see if its properly in place.

Which engine is it? you haven't actually said, I don't know, just basic checks so cant really comment anymore:).

It's the 2.7. What I'm trying to establish is if the rear of the ACE is accessible, and where from. And also whether there is a bolt in the rear of it

That's the power steering pump, which does, or should have a rear bolt.
Reasonably, but not easily accessible. If the engine has been swapped, chances are someone CBA to fit it - also check the mounting bracket is secured properly and doesn't have bits missing or elongated holes
If the rear bolt is missing, then it's a simple task to remove the front two bolts, swing the pump out of the bracket, check the bracket, work out how to fit & secure the rear bolt and build the whole lot back up again. shouldn't take more than an hour unless you're particularly ham-fisted.
