Afternoon all, thought I had an issue with loose wing mirrors on my Freelander. Was trying to tighten the screws under the cap, fitted washers under them, none of it worked. Until today I inadvertently pressed down on my mirror moving switch. They then folded in and then pressed it down again they came out. Was really excited when this happened. Didn't even know I had motorised folding mirrors. This fixed my mirror wind blown floppy mirrors to sturdy proper mirrors.

My 2003 se has powerfold mirrors, most of the time they are great but every now and then they throw a bit of a wobbley, one goes out other doesnt then that swaps around to the other one doing it, then neither go out or if out wont go in ,leave a couple of minutes then they work fine for weeks then start again.

when I sold my 2001 model nearly four years ago it had electric folding mirrors on that I had put on my self, the switches to the folding mirrors are different to the none folding I will get a picture later

Thank you for this nugget, it fixed my loose mirrors too - did not realise the power fold even existed...

However... I tried it a couple of times and then they locked right in 🫣 and it's all changing to smart motorways where I am so driving down a extra narrow motorway lane with 50mph average speed check and no mirrors is no joke... Had to stop and break out the owners manual to find out that the power fold stops working if you use it a few times in quick succession to prevent overheating...
