Firstly, apologies for creating a thread that has probably been covered many times in the past. i have searched for answers but cant find what i need and would appreciate some help...

My 1991 defender soft top has the most ridiculous front seats, the backs bend, the bases are ripped up and i want to replace them. looking at pictures on the net, i'm not convinced i can just buy a set of seats from someone like Exmoor and simply bolt them in. any ideas?

Hi Jim,

I assume you are talking about the front seats. What sort have you got at the moment?

Surely, You could buy a second hand set easy enough, then use the foam from somewhere like exmoor trim and new seat covers.

Cheers

Hi Neilly, front seats, yes. its the rear bulkhead and the seat trays i have concerns about, they dont appear to be the same as other Defenders i have seen of the same age. I'll get some pics.

Hi Jim, if you want any measurement then let me know, mine has the bulkhead removal bar, but I can measure where the seat rails go to on a std vehicle, just for clarification.

Cheers

Are you replacing the whole seat inc runners etc or just the backs and bases?
I had the same seats in my mod 90 when I bought it.
I got a second hand pair of defender seats off eBay and bolted them in.
The mounting holes matched those already there but even if they don't, a drill will soon sort it out!

Just buy a second hand set of tdi seats off eBay - that's what I did and they bolted in just right.
