What miles per gallon of petrol should you be roughly getting driving localy with a 1.8 petrol engine.

After replacing the second 02 sensor my miles per gallon have increased but i have no idea what i should be averaging just running around town.

I think 26 miles per gallon is near to what i am getting now, before the o2 sensor change i was doing 15 miles for 10 pounds of petrol, it was eating it.

I've been trying to gauge what i'm now using, i think i'm doing 37 miles for a tenner, a big improvement, i should have replaced the o2 sensor at the same time when i replaced most of exhaust system, i'd have saved a fortune in petrol.

Sounds feasible. I get 33 miles to £10 in my V6.

The last tank full I worked out I got 37mpg and that included a lot of short journeys, quite pleased with that, next month I'm taking the Hippo to Holland so it'll be interesting to see how that works out with mainly A roads and motorways.

I get 500 + miles per tank now on a regular basis.
I have done the epg mod, oil bmw filter thingy, silicon turbo hoses and a ronbox.

TD4 2006.

I have all the mods and a few more!

Tyres make a difference, road tyres being more economical than AT or mud tyres.
Frontal area also makes a difference as well at speed.

My 1.8 runs between 27 and 31 very light footed rarely over 55 mph mostly a and b roads .
Pretty much the same on LPG but only half the price (guess which get used most)

Just hit the 600 miles mark and the refuel light came on. This after finally changing the standard intercooler hoses for bigger ones to match the massive intercooler. Can't believe how restrictive standard hoses were being.Used to get 400 miles per tank, creeping up to 460/480 if on a motorway run before.

Td4 41 last tank with Continental AT's on, however expecting it to start to drop soon as the temperature goes down.
