As subject really, I'm considering buying a Defender, ideally around £4k tops but might stretch a little more if it warranted it.

I'm still getting to grips with the different models and specs, but since size is an issue (parking as this is a second "fun" car) I believe a SWB 90 is the kind of thing I'm looking for.

I think I know of most of the Midlands specialists (liveridge, MG, exmod) but I'd be interested to know of anywhere that doesn't advertise on Autotrader/eBay as I've been monitoring it for days and very little seems to come up within a reasonable distance that isn't wildly over my budget.

Any info much appreciated - thanks! :)

slightly over priced but very well prepared - Roeans in Telford often have dependers for sale on their "for sale" board to the left of the front door

Thanks both. Interesting as Craddocks is not far yet in all my hunting/digging I'd never heard of them!

In my case, depending whether the specialists sell older vehicles, I think "slightly over priced" may not be a huge issue if it means a sound vehicle as I don't have the knowledge as to exactly what to look for to prevent buying a "cheap" money-pit.

Any more suggestions gratefully received.

Liveridge was well worth a trip, got the feeling they were top money but I shall be keeping an eye on their stock to see if something comes in.

Craddocks, Shardlow 4x4, Exmod all have nothing at all and said along the lines of they'd love to have more stock to sell.

I've upped my budget to around £6k as well as it seems you open up a lot more options for a relatively small amount more (given that they don't seem to lose a fortune in depreciation at this kind of money).

Thanks.

Wow, someone who wants a landy and never heard of craddocks

(must admit I grew up in cannock)

This is getting a bit crazy.

I check eBay and Auto Trader each day and so far without exception every single vehicle that's looked of interest has already sold by the time I've called/emailed.

Got mine from Liverage a few months ago for £4k - Good experience and really please with car. They are actually "keen" to sort nay issues but you do pay for this - I took the view that a good base car pays off in the long run.

Photo in caption - BTW folks, how do you put image into threads ? me fick :):)

Another week and still bugger all out there - every specialist says the same thing, they can't get enough vehicles.

90boy, I'm keeping it in mind but an unmolested 90 CSW is still my first choice so if anyone does know of one going in my area....

Not since last week. I'm still keeping them in mind though.

Ideal world would be for some sort of "lead" to come from somewhere like here to someone selling a bit older but tidy/original 200tdi wagon.

as yer go thru cannock chase thers a defender 90 200 tdi parked up on the right as yer go past shugborough, been there fer a couple of years now, starting to look dirty , but was a mint motor when it turned up , where bouts are yer ?

there's also a 89 90 on the old BnQ roundabout going out towards Cannock from Stafford that's been slowly taken apart over the past 6 months
