The middle/high brake light on our Freelander is corroded and the paint is flaking off. I suspect this is a common problem.

Has anyone else had this and re-painted it?

I haven't take a proper look yet, but presume it can be removed and shot-blasted before being primed and painted again? (We do have some facilities at work I may be able to use one lunch time!)

Thanks in advance for advice/suggestions.

most of us have been too busy mending everything else to have a go at this problem

let us all know how you get on ;)

i have this problem but as said above in my case i have more important things to fix first... let us no how you get on and what you use to sort it

I've done mine. Cleaned it back with a wire brush on a drill, primed it and painted it satin black. It's easy enough to take off.

It's al allow of some kind, I imagine Dunc's technique would work fine :). You could try picking up a tough spray like brake caliper spray or something, or krylon.

Any problems doing it? Any photos?

What did you prime it with? what type of metal is it?

I got the paint from halfords, nothing special about it. You could use Caliper paint like Will suggests. Like any paint job, it's only as good as the prep work. Not something you could do, start to finish, in a lunch break. I'd allow half a day minimum.

Did mine as dunc said, used normal hammerite, turned our a little glossy for my tastes as spray was semi matt but all is well
