Hey guys. I've got a bit of a problem with my Defender. It had quite a hard day today pulling shrubs out at work. Nothing huge, just some small holly trees etc. Then it was a long run home, maybe 30 minutes at 75mph.
When I got to the lanes closer to home it started making a really nasty metallic screahing noise when under load. Mainly in second and third gear, but never before the turbo kicks in and I have to be flooring it. I guess that's just putting unwanted pressure on something and it's not happy?
I've had a read on google and the main answer seems to be prop shaft UJs? It's been giving some minor vibrations under load for a while now so is this its way of telling me it's had enough?
So, is this the most likely cause of this (really nasty sounding) noise? More importantly how long is it likely to be before it totally gives way? I could do with going back to the same job tomorrow if it will take it? Or is this its way of saying "fix me now or you're walking home"?
