freelander1 td4.need help please.i get a loud cracking sound sometimes from near front wheel only when i drive up a ramp on left lock slowly.just 1 metal sounding crack and not every time.i have checked all joints and wheel bearing,plus replaced drop links but no joy

Inspect your coil springs for cracking. Although I don't think it's going to be your particular issue, it's a possibility. Have you visually inspected things with the steering at full lock left?

checked everything on steering mate,plus joints to all look good,and springs ok to

Hi there I had a similar noise it turned out to be top suspension mount made a cracking noise when I was locking over especially near full lock

Next time you do that 'maneuver' try doing it with the door open a bit.

I had a sound like that that I could not work out where it was coming from and I'm sure in the end it was the door (or seals or summat) creaking as the chassis slightly flexed. Sound didn't happen with the door open.
