Ow do Trew :D:D:D had a most productive day today, think i found a way from where we ended up the other day pretty much most of the way to ere! Gotta do some walkin to check em out but i have it on good authority (the local barber, who does em on 2 wheels) that they are OK!

make sure they're not too scratchy - don't want to lose stumpy again.

The AFCENT NATO headquarters bought some Merc G-Wagons way back when they first came out , and they fell apart as soon as they hit anything rougher than an autobahn. Never saw such an attrition rate. On one of the days every single one of them was parked up broken, and as I recall, all for different reasons.

They might be OK for poofters, and posers with too much money, but they were no good then for soldiers. Maybe they're tougher now? I don't know.

AFCENT got rid of them smartish and bought .... wait for it ...... LANDROVERS!
Usually the only tools needed to keep them going were two hammers - a big one and a bigger one!

Interesting that, whilst we all knew it anyway, it's always nice to have confirmation that we really DO have the best motor for the job! Nice one!!!:D:D:D

I've not read all the posts on this one, sorry, can't be arsed. All I have to say is the G Waggon may be good off road, it may be reliable, it may be good on road, but it aint a Land Rover, and that just will not do for me.

Was tryin to get beyond the loyalty to the landy brand we all have to see if they are really better than landys and the general consensus is here and elsewhere that they are not nearly as good, reliable, good off road, nice to look at, nice to drive or generally heterosexual (gaylaender and Twee...big p excepted) as land rovers. Warmes the cockles of me art so it does!!!:D:D:D
