Hi I run an early 110 with a conversion to Mazda 3.5 SL. I'm trying to find out what model of Mercedes 4 speed automatic gearbox is fitted. I think its a ZF but not really sure. Can anyone help? thanks Mark

Probably not much help but think merc fit their own gearboxes.

not many clairvoyants on this forum , try getting some numbers off the box that will be likely to get you the info you are after

if anyone can suggest where the numbers are stamped on the box it would help as with the oil n road dirt of many years I can't see the numbers

Surely it's either a ZF box or a Mercedes one? Or have I missed one company being part of the other?

Usually Mazda SL conversions are Rover V8 fitment, in other words they fit to V8 gearboxes - for example the automatic ZF units or the manual LT85/LT77/R380.

If you can get a clear picture of the box someone will probably be able to identify it from the shape or casting detail.
