Servisol Contact Cleaner & Lubricant.I got rid of a car with a distributor on it last August.
Will a contact cleaner keep the solenoid thingy lubricated?
Hmmm, if it sticks and causes a fire?Took the old girl out for a run today. Gearbox was really smooth then after a few miles I felt a thumping from the front. Made an unpleasant shudder when braking.
Got it home, offside front brake was smoking.
Laser temp gauge showed the near side brake disc at 68 degrees c.
The offside disc was a toasty 312 degrees c.
So, discs and pads on order. Seems a seized caliper and warped disc has been causing me some issues. Question now is, do I bite the bullet and get a new caliper or can the old one be unstuck and made workable
On a P38 I would replace the calliper, they are as cheap as chips, expensive on the newer stuff though. Are you sure it's not just the slider pins seized?Took the old girl out for a run today. I had cleaned and greased the slider pins before I took it out for a spin. The piston was a bit of a struggle to move but it seemed to free off .
It took a little while for the problem to appear. I'm going to whip it all off in a bit and see how bad it all is.
I was thinking about that but I've never stripped a caliper.
