I have nothing to do with Halfords but their professional range is very good value and they are decent tools. Anyway about 3 months ago I got an email that they were having a sale and bought a set of 8-19mm ratcheting spanners for my eldest for Christmas.

Anyway he's just rung to say he is rebuilding the front of his car and needs to borrow tools so he's having it early and when I went to show the missus what he had off the web site low and behold they are on special offer again.

Seriously worth a punt at just £40 (reduced for £100) !!

Anyway I'm posting this for other peoples benefit. If it's not allowed delete it.

They seem to be on offer more often than not but yep it's a useful set and mine have coped with several years of abuse happily enough.

Yep me too, I got them when they were on offer. Used and abused over the last few years, still looking shiny and still mechanically as good as new.

I'm thinking of getting another set... I have 2 sets of 8mm to 13mm then 1x15mm and 2x 17mm & 19mm ! I think that one full set for the main tool box giving me 2 other full sets of mixed spanners for the main box and the carry box in the Landy.

I like there pro range! I also have a set of flex head ratchet spanners and they are great! Also had a 3/8 socket set. Again got on offer for 20 quid but it was great too!

Last thing I bought from here was the 90 piece socket set, I only needed a half inch ratchet and another 3/8 ratchet, They were £45 so just spent the extra 15 and got an extra 88 tools!

Also bought some oil, got my free £20 screwdriver set, then went back an hour later and bought some more oil for my van, got another set! Lifetime supply of screwdrivers.

The Screwdrivers are good, last Xmas / New Year I got 4 sets for £12, because there system appeared to have a glitch.

Their auto centre system had a glitch in July that let me buy a pair of Dunlop sport tyres for £90 that should have been just over 200!

Cheers, cowasaki! The Mrs was looking over my shoulder while I 'took my time' reading your post last night. It's my birthday on Friday, guess what I'm getting now! Tremendous :D

They did that on purpose, it was pickup only, they wanted you in the store straight after Xmas

I was quite happy for them to make me come to their store , especially for such a good deal. I remember the guy behind the counter was none too chuffed, because they arrived early in the morning and there was a long list of stuf they needed to have ready because of the glitches, LOL

Cheers

I prefer trying 18 different spanners before finding the correct one Proper spanner set is on my bucket list along with a socket set (same issue).

On your bucket list, Doriz! You'll want them way before you kick it mate. :)

Yup, very useful for places where you could do with a ratchet action but there isn't enough room for a socket. Things like the bolts that hold the swivel balls on the axle tube, shock absorber and spring retainer nuts and lots more throughout the Land Rover..

The Halfords ratchet spanner set seem to be a re-badged GearWrench set so good quality, however you can get the gearwrench set in the US for about the £30 mark and in imperial which Halfords will never do.

I got a set a while back when they were reduced. Can't fault them. Also went into my local halfords to find them selling two disklocs for £20 each and an entire Halfards industrial draw/chest set for £190. Needless to say I bought the lot.
