Hi,

I have recently taken ownership of a 94 110 CSW (300tdi). This is my first Landy and I am headlong into the process of absorbing massive amounts of info

One thing I am trying to get into place is that gem that is a reliable, trustworthy and cheap! mechanic.

I need to replace the clutch and a couple of gaskets. I have got quotes from a couple of local "specialists" but they strike me as very dear. One is highly regarded but I think just too specialist for the simple jobs I need.

I live in West Kent, so anywhere around Tonbridge, Maidstone, Sevenoaks or even Swanley would work. Any body local to me that can give me any tips?

Or offers to replace the clutch for me!!

Give Roberts Country Vehicles in East Peckham (I think) a call... they're pretty good but not what I'd call 'cheap'.

Changing a clutch on one of these isn't a small job, so I'm not surprised you've had some big quotes.

Thanks Adz. RCV are just round the corner from me. They have given me a quote but as you said not cheap. I am looking to see if anyone knows the typical Man with a lock-up that knows Landys like the back of his hand.

Thanks Rob

I am near Five Oak Green so just round the corner. The main job is the clutch. There are some other bits, A frame ball joint, water pump gasket, p gasket and manifold gasket but the clutch is the main worry.

I have all the bits, but not the talent or patience.

Gigglepin in Sevenoaks Weld/Hildenborough.

Good guy's but very busy also parts and accessorie shop is good value.

Thanks for all the tips.

I spoke to Dave in Biggin Hill yesterday and am going to try and get my Landy up to him next week. Certainly reasonable, lets hope he does a good job.

Will feedback after he's done his stuff in case anyone else is interested.

Also spoke to Sussex 4x4, sounded OK but was away on hols for two weeks then backed up for another two.

I would be interested in finding out what sort of service you get from Dave as i too could do with an experienced LR man, sometimes you gotta know when to call in the experts.
