am due to change the oil in my gearbox and been told it must be between 30 and 50 degrees, how is best way to measure it? Are there any simple cheap laptop programmes, or a plug in bit of kit, or lay under her with a thermometer like mum used to stick in your ear when you was little?

the only reason temp is important with some boxes is that there is thermstatic valve in cooler line and oil doesnt flow through till up to running temp so isolating oil in that part of system so if you need to know if it is hot enough feel both cooler pipes they wil be hot when valve is open this appliees to freelanders as well
