Would that be safe in an accident or is the seat going to kill the passenger?!

Nope completely safe, the back of the base tucks under the back of the seat, and the two front bolts fingertight give the base of the seat the solid feel, there's no rocking or anything.

If anything it replicates a safer defender seat base anyway, those things don't even have any bolts in 'em!

True, however When I fitted them to mine, there are 4 goldy looks bolts that hold the seat base down. If you completely remove the back 2, leaving the front 2 fingertight, it doesn't affect the passenger sitting on the seat in the slightest and allows you to put your hand underneath the seat from the front and undo them, thus accessing the battery pretty easily.
I remember you saying this in my thread I might try it.

I mite do that as I can then cut out all the not needed wiring that is part of the seat squab / base as its a pain sliding the tray back in under the seat, I have tied them back the best I can but they still catch so yeah I will do that ;):)

I cut out the seat belt wiring and cut back the air bag wires as well. Just left the heated part on the passenger and heated plus controls on the drivers

Liking the idea of a set of these in my disco and as luck would have it a rx8 is being broken local to me.
Owner is happy for me to have the heated seat switches and wiring to go with it.
Does anyone know how much loom I will need to take to help with installation?
And even better which are the relays that the Mazda will have that I'll need

Cheers Chris

Only bit I got was the cables attached to the seat. Join to the cables via a relay and off you go. Any on off switch works

Cool, cheers mate.
Guessing the electric seat switches are attached to the seats?
Might see if I can get some switches that match the airlocker switches I already have

No they are on or off. The only part on the seat is a positive and negative underneath for the passenger and a few more for drivers. I use some carling on off switches I did buy some rdx heated seat switches for 20 quid for a pair but they were out of stock until at least November so I got a refund

that might come with the loom, just get a 30amp relay for each seat and cable thick enough to handle 30 amps, im sure I read that both seats go through the same 15amp fuse on the rx8 so 30 amp is plenty enough, the switch you install will just activate the relay and the power goes through the relay to the heated seat then to earth, really easy.

Drives side has so many common earths and a couple of positives for the movement ect, I put a 15amp fuse in which works but if I catch the switch and the seats already at its furthest position it will pop the fuse so I need a 20amp but the cable is again about 30amp cable

wiring up the seats was the easiest bit, plenty of **** info on the web about them tho but I just collated as much as I could together.

Unfortunately the set I was going for appears to have sold.
Shame as they were a bit of a bargain it would seem, any other sets on eBay are over budget.
