One of us has miscalculated, because I had the 2.5 diesel first, then the V8 on LPG and I would say the V8 wins by a tiny margin.

The diesel averaged 22, 25 at very best

The V8 LPG averages 15 but the fuel is half price on a weekly basis...

On top of that I fill it with petrol twice maybe three times a year at £100 a fill....

Small price to pay for a vehicle that sounds good and is pretty quick for its size.... I can't remeber saying that about my diesel.....

Dont forget lpg is 20-30% less efficient so i hear than petrol so it aint actually half price motoring... but way cheaper than silly mpg's on petrol :)

20-30% less efficient is wildly pessimistic. Someone has already said your engine oil stays cleaner, so will your oil filter, also, no acid in LPG, therefore your exhaust system will last longer, too. I've just done a 200 mile round trip in my LPG 4.6ltr, about half on motorway (M11), topped up on my return, worked out I'd done 18mpg, that equates to well over 30mpg. LPG at my local garage is 66.9 to-day. If I trek out to Kates Kabin (A1) it is 64.9.

my old rr 4.6 used to do around 17mpg on petrol and around 14mpg on gas but at a £for£ equivalent that was around 28mpg and as far as I know the 2.5d cant match that. Lpg at the time for me averaged 45ppl as a local garage was offering 1p off (max 10p)next fill up with top price at 49ppl I was making good savings.

Then there is the performance differences too :)

I got a v8 because I wanted a v8. Dont use my car that often. The better half got a Corsa diesel, but she does over 250 miles a weel. Mine goes out at weekends, evenings, or iff im off in the week. So it not too bad. did 100 odd miles yesterday, motorway and town, computer saying 13.9 mpg. Wasnt hanging around either. may get my lpg kit installed, if get fed up with petrol. Can you get underslung tanks for a P38?

Think most have the tank in the spare wheel well, mine does. Just means the spare wheel lives in the garage!

my spare flat anyway. used to not having a spare, just have couple cans of the inflator stuff, incase i get desperate. I got a 70l torpedo tank, but dont want loose any boot space
