Hi,

Just a quick one, can anyone post a link the biggest battery they have fitted into the standard battery tray in a Disco 1. I'm putting mine back on the road an I'm thinking of moving the 072 battery to the spare holder and then chuck a biggie in the primary holder.

I don't have air conditioning any more so I think I can get a bigger one in there, oh er.

Ta.

Try a tape measure tben google battery dimensions. Oh merry fooking Xmas. .

Don't think you'll get much bigger (I did a thread on this and ended up where I started) as the air-bag connector prevents you from using the space vacated by air-con pipes - been there too.

I recently put a new battery in my disco.... I was just gonna get a straight replacement, but when I got to the motor factors their books said it was the wrong type!!!
The one I got is a commercial vehicle and needed a shoe horn to get it in, infact we needed to take the bracket that holds the radiator off to get it in!!

Don't ask for numbers.... I'll have a look when I'm under the bonnet next

Are you thinking of running a split charge system?
I read it somewhere that you need batteries of equal size and power so one doesn't drain the other.

I pulled out my aircon today and I'm thinking of dual alternators, but I have not made my mind up yet.

Here's mine I fitted - this was the biggest one I could find to fit.....

It's been in for around 2 years and never failed me once, always starting, even on the coldest of days when it was minus double figures

Its a very snug fit to say the least, and measures about 33cm -

but you can see the difference in size, as the 'normal' battery is here as my second battery ;)
