I am planning a driveway to a house on a very steep hill. The average gradient in a straight line would be 1:1.6 (65% or 32 degrees). Anyone know at what point the pitch angle becomes critical for a Disco 4 Commercial SDV6?

It depends on the weight of the load you are carrying, where it is in relation to the cntre of gravity, and the vehicle ride height. But even a fully loaded Disco 4 at maximum ride height would easily go up a 32% slope. Use of low box is definately recommended though.
