Hi all

OK i have messed up.. I'm at work and have to got round to my father-in-laws to look at his master cylinder (its a series 2a brake and clutch combined one) and it is leaking from the bottom nut (one to the clutch). I was intending to borrow a tap and die from work to clean the threads with but the fool that i am, i forgot to check the size. Dose anyone know what size thread it is?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Its the same connector (Female) as goes on the rest of the pipes.
Sorry the parts cat does not list it's dimensions.

It is almost certainly an Imperial Christian thread - UNF Unified National Fine.

It will not be some heathen metric thread.

Not a lot of people these days have got Imperial taps and dies, and in any event I fear you'll find it difficult to do what you propose.

IN MY OPINION the thread will be in good condition. I suggest you undo the pipe, wind a couple of turns of plumber's PTFE white tape round the end, and put it back.

I know what you are saying with the old Tap and Dies, i am fortunate that my dad and granddad were both engineers so i have a tidy supply.

I will use some PTFE tape..
