300tdi 1997 disco 1 manual

I had issues two weeks back with my clutch feeling soft for the top half of the travel, then sticking half way (not returning), garage replaced slave cylinder clutch still felt soft but did return to the top.

However yesterday the biting point started to get lower, can't engage first or reverse and other gears crunch, the biting point is now below the floor! The disco moves with the clutch pushed down hard!

So I've had a new slave cylinder, pumping doesn't seem to help, and no fluid lost...

Master cylinder now gone? Or is it sounding like the fork/release bearing?
Any ideas LZerz?

Thanks for reading I'll keep updated when it's resolved!

I always thought that it was good practice to change the master cylinder if you're changing the slave, if one's gone the other is sure to follow soon enough. Dun't know the answer to your question though.

I dunno why the garage didn't replace both! I'll have a look to see if it splashes or not, the new slave may be a sh*tpart, so could have something to do with it...

I've learnt in my few years of Landy ownership: if you want a job doing proper, make a feck of it yourself!

I had a similar problem abit ago. Did you let all the fluid drain out of the master cylinder?. bleeding the clutch master cylinder. As I had air in mine.

Had issues in the past with mine, couple of years ago i changed the slave and recently after a long trip of about 9 hours non stop it did it again, this time i simply drained the fluid and refilled and then bled it up and its been fine since, i would recommend bleeding it first as you never know and it could save you a few quid if that is all it is.

Thanks guys with my luck bleeding probably will help but not fix, always gotta have hope though, just hope the box aint gonna have to come out quite yet..

Forgot to add I pumped it earlier and had a few tiny bubbles so looks promising that it's just air in there.
