Being lazy I haven't checked part numbers, but , originally a drum braked 90, discs fitted many many years ago, its been fine but now its due a new Master, to make sure Im not missing out, did they change the master when they moved over to rear discs?
 
Two different masters listed in my parts diagrams. Up to HA702009 its NRC9529, after its STC441. The servos are different on later models too.
 
LR also changed master cylinder on late SIII's and early Nineties when twin brake line systems were installed with rear drums and disc fronts. What year is your 90? This will help to pin down the correct MC with correct internal bore
 
Mine has the original 86 master and no problems with the four disc setup.
If it ain't broke........................
 
Wasn't you moaning about how the brakes should be kept stock as designed last month !

No, it was me ''moaning'' about people who didn't know how a braking system worked and thought ''upgrading'' without testing was somehow a good idea, my braking balance is correct, I put it on our rolling road at work.

I have the correct part number for the year, it all works correctly, I was just wondering if they changed them when they went to discs.
Saying that, when I built it 14 years ago I cant remember if I used one from a later vehicle! The same vehicle the rear axle came off, 14 years of receipts will be fun!

That's good - LR made the first change when front discs + rear drums with dual cct came out on the Ninety/OneTe, as with my Ninety/90. Have just bought a new TRW MC https://www.firstfour.co.uk/brake-master-cylinder-for-defender-90-lucas-trw.html it's worth going with a good quality MC as some of the ****part types are goddamn awful. TRW are one of only a few Lucas/Girling/G original grade manufacturers left. The rest come from semi-unknown manufacturers with horrendous build quality. I sent back my rebuild kit as even the cylinder pistons had differing bore sizes[!]
