NFU have decided to spit us Defender owners out, and leave us to rot:mad:

Lancaster are the new NFU :)

Think I'll give Lancaster a call.
Just had the renewal notice come through from NFU for my completely standard unmodded 5000 miles a year 2002 90 CSW: 49 year-old driver with no convictions or claims in the last 20 years = 72% rise in premium since last year.

Do they always ask why you are changing your engine? When I rang flux they quizzed me on why I would want to change the engine!

Do it! Ask them for an agreed valuation form. If they agree with your submition then you will have a guaranteed payout figure should you need to make a full claim, as opposed to just the market valuation figure.

Its because of the difference in horse power, although still a 2.5 diesel, theres a big % power diff from a N/A to a 200tdi for example.

Well, the reason I'm doing the swallow because I want a more reliable engine, so if they ask me why IM doing it I don't have to mention power. That is an added extra that so happned to be another attribute of the engine! ;-)

Done and paid for.
Lancaster matched the NFU policy and undercut their price significantly, bye-bye NFU.

NO previous interest or affiliation with Lancaster here, thanks for the tip guys. :)

WTF? On their website:

No drivers are involved in any of the following occupations:
entertainment, TV or radio presenter, professional sportsman/woman, celebrity, professional gambler, hawker, general dealer, offshore oil worker, airside worker, foreign armed forces, courier/delivery driver, debt collector, money lender or unemployed.

Sounds like standard exclusions that most insurers have

So because I work as a delivery driver some of the time, they won't insure me? Surely this would mean I am a more experienced driver than others my age because of the more miles I drive in a large van and I am a more careful driver because accidents count towards me losing my job? Also the van is signwritten with the name of a large uk company who can be contacted if someone doesn't like my driving. How on earth does that even make sense?:mad::doh:
