Mar 16 deadline to apply for $$ for cracked Ford manifold!
You have just til Mar. 16, 2006 to apply for reimbursement of the big
bux you spent to have your cracked plastic Ford V8 intake manifold
replaced. Go to
your Ford dealer, or see the official site
www.fordmanifoldsettlement.com or the unofficial site
www.flamingfords.info, for details.
You have a better chance of getting reimbursement if you have your
repair receipt, but you do not always have to have one.
If you have the repair receipt, or can obtain a copy from the files of
the place that repaired it, the coverage is for manifolds that failed
within 7 years of purchase, regardless of mileage. Thus, even a car as
old as 1996 will be included - if the manifold failed within 7 years of
the original purchase.
If you don't have the repair receipt, the coverage is for vehicles that
are "now" less than 7 years old. Thus, most 1996-1998 vehicles will be
excluded - if their owners do not have a repair receipt. It is unclear
whether the 7 years is to be measured from the date that you apply for
reimbursement, or from the Dec. 16, 2005 date that the class action was
settled.
Please do not be misled by some incorrect info (posted on the official
site until Jan. 20) saying that a vehicles has to be less than 7
years old as of now for it to be eligible. That restriction applies
only to owners without a repair receipt. For owners with a repair
receipt, the settlement covers vehicles all the way back to the 1996
model year - 10 years old.
No matter what, if you do not apply by the close of business on March
16, you are out of luck.
