Its probably been asked before but I cant find owt on it so hear go's
Ive currently got manual seats that are in poor condition. so ive been on the look out for some replacment ones, which I may have just found but there electric
If I were to get some electric ones would they just plug in and work or would they need activating in the becm?
Its a high line becm before you ask.
Or im I just better swoping the covers onto my manuals

You would need the looms as well, otherwise plug n play I believe. Can also be done with relays.

I have tried this in the past, I got as far as working out I had a High line BECM.... cant remember if I have the full loom though, either way I remember plugging it in and it didn't work. It has been moved on a battery though.

Ill be very interested to know how you get on if you go for it, if you do and works please could you send me some pics of what you connect?

Also a bit of advice I can give, the interior I bought was from a post 99 (mine is a pre 99) the seats belts were different (had wires to it if I remember right), I couldn't get the seat belt to fit in the frame of the car... but what I didn't realise was the clasp on the seat was also different, so I now have non functioning seats and I cant fasten the seat belts.. lol just double check before throwing anything away (or selling it all for 99p like I did)

And if you end up with some pre99 seat belt clasp's.... let me know please

Unless you let SWMBO drive the car (or have two or more chauffeurs) so need the seats adjusting regularly I'd be very tempted just to change over the covers and maybe the driver's seat bolsters. P38, elecktrickery, wires, BECM - let sleeping dogs lie.

+1, electric seats are a bloody nuisance when they stop moving and happen to be in the position for a five foot wife.:)

Yea was thinking maybe more hassle than its worth but the ones ive seen are like new re upholstered electric memory at £250 the set so just thought pointless buying electric then throwing it away (probably sell on ebay but you get the idea)

Go for it, I did on mine piece of **** to fit.
Just make sure you get the looms & all is plugged into the BECM.
HTH. ;)

What about the heated seats? Since mine haven't got them would simply swoping the hevac for one with the buttons work or would that need programing in?

Heated seats should work if you swap the HEVAC unit - as you've mentioned, you have high-line BECM.

Only other thing to the check would be the wiring under the seats currently (on the vehicle side) to make sure the plugs are there for the heated seats elements to plug into...

One's a 2 way, and the other a 3 way - both white connectors.
