Hi, I've a neighbour who also owns a K series 1.8 FL1. He's in the process of replacing its head and his motor has the auto tensioner. But the replacement head is from a manual tensioner motor. What's involved in making the mod's to make that head work.

I'd guess he'd need to drill & tap the stud/bolt hole in the head for the auto tensioner's spring to press up against - that should be to hard?

The cam pulleys are the same as is the coolant pump and crank shaft pulley but the auto tensioner uses a wider belt with extra teeth - is that correct?

Everything is the same. It's just the hole that's missing. I've done it the other way and all was fine. Why not just use the manual tensioner?

Belts are different lengths, and tensioners are different, but otherwise all interchangeable :)

A mod I have done many times

He sent his auto tensioner head away to be checked, found it was soft but he company returned a manual tensioner head - that was last November. He'd already bought a new auto tensioner in preparation along with the other bits needed. I'd love to know what happened to his head!
