Afternoon all,

I drove my Discovery 2 TD5 manual to work this morning. All was absolutely fine, completely tickety boo.

I've just jumped in it to drive home and I'm having gear selection problems. And it feels as though the lever isn't really connected to anything, like it's just a big spoon stirring a bowl of porridge and gear cogs. The gears are all still there, I can just about find them and they all work, but they're not where I would expect them to be and in effect the vehicle is now undriveable.

I'm hoping that as all the gears are still there, it's not internal, and that as it came on suddenly it hopefully is an easy fix. Could it be the bias plate?

Try giving David Ashcroft a call at Ashcroft Transmissions 01582 496040.

Nothing to loose and he may be able to help out.

Or possibly the plastic Railko bush at the bottom of the gearlever.
You'll need to remove the centre console & gear lever gaiters to check the bush or bias springs / plate.
