OK help needed and not with the girlfriend! I have a 90 TD which has been running smoothly for 3 years with minor tweaks and servicing. Always starts first time with no bother. 2 weeks ago it hesitated during start but went anyway. Drove it for 10 miles then had a gradual reduction in power and a noticeable increase in black smoke out of the exhaust. Nursed it for a couple more miles untill it finally gave up on me when I had to stop at traffic lights. Nice AA man came out to look at it, confirmed my initial diagnosis of turbo or injectors. Looked at turbo for me (I had no tools, schoolboy error) looked ok, confirmed my initial thought of injector. Came home on back of low loader.
So far have changed injectors for reconditioned ones - needed it anyway.
Changed fuel filter.
Bled system
Won't start! Have checked the injectors are injecting and they all are. However only 2 injectors show any sign of ignition i.e. black deposit on the end of injector, the other 2 are as clean as a whistle.
Now I come onto the girlfriends wiggle! As she cranked it over for me to check injectors, it was firing on the 2 cylinders!
What next chap's, any ideas?
