doesn't the gearbox have one already, its either that or the transfer that does.
neo magnets are VERY strong, would stand up to a jetwash, and offroad, unless they get physically shoved off if you ground it.

I agree. Your biggest problem will be removing the bloody things eventually!
 
I got the very same magnets but mine won't stick to the drain plug?? I have a series 3, not a fender but I thought they should stick on fine. They stick to the chassis fine but not at all to any part of the gearbox or transfer box.
The only thing I can think to do is to glue them to the inside of the plug but then i'll never get all the crud off them.
 
Actually thinking about it I might try putting something steel inside the plug for the magnets to hold onto from the outside. Could be a bit risky as if they fall off I've got more floating around in there than I started off with...
 
hi all, i'm liking the magnet idea, but what happens if the magnets come off? then there'll be a massive amount of swarf entering the fuel system in one go.

NOT on the inside,if the glue unsticks magnet will be attracted to the gears.
 
It was me dad that mentioned this. Works a treat. They can be a nuisance on the workbench as everything keeps sticking to them and screws go flying towards you.

useless idea if you've got an aluminium sump :(
changing the oil regulary will be more effective ,the gear box plug from an lt77 or r380 get that way from bearing races spinning in the case and wearing their seats,again oil changes are best way

Agreed :)

mine changes it's own oil due to leaking cam seals and sump gasket. :(


all getting done this summer when i change the front pipe thats just started blowing, non stop fun is being had :D
