Looks to me like Bosch (botch) are looking for a get out clause because they are having to replace so many under warranty, especially when you consider the amount of vehicles that use them
As for loosing 10-30% performance Lets face it ,they aint that accurate or reliable in the first place
And finally What the hell is there to calibrate on them????
If we can set about them with some brake cleaner and a toothbrush to improve there performance, then I think someones telling talking out of there bottom with reguard to the factory calibrated precision instrument bit
If you still have problems obtaining the right key for the maf screws send me a PM and I'll send you some over, or try http://rswww.com
They do propper cleaning stuff aswell
Hi mondo,
While that guy was telling me all that, the question that came on my mind was what could be calibrated to an item that only has a wire inside that needs to be heated up to a certain temperature and which is, at the same time cooled down by the passing air, on the hand of the amount of power needed to keep the temperature as close as possible to the pre-set value the ecu calculates the amount of fuel the engine requests/needs. There are no moving things or whatsoever in it, also on the maf I think there is a small edge and in the housing a groove, so what can go wrong ? Of course I was not going to argue with the guy while he was explaining it all to me, I almost had the feeling I did a sacrilege seen the way he jumped onto me. As for the RSWWW, as far as I can see it's all T6 (6 pointed star) they have. I have two sets of such 6 pointed keys, one with a hole in and the other without a hole. When I take off the airfilter cover I'll try to use pliers or so and when screws are out try to saw a groove in it so that, if again needed in future, (ming does clean his' yearly..) I can use a flat screwdriver. Take care.
