Man am I a happy bunny (small furry earth animal to you Ming).

I'm happy 'cos 1) the posts saying that i've done the right thing. ;-0
and 2) the performance is a definate improvement to low-down grunt (around the 2-3k RPM level) and the fuel econ is about 15% better...aye...you do the maths and work out how long it will pay me back...as I can't be arsed - but i'll assume it's in two tnks with the price of DERV being over £250 a litre here in Somerset (actually £1 er litre atm).

Gotta say thanks to a guy on the Dorchester bypass in his 02 TD4 who happened to test 50-70 times with me ;-) Mine ended up being about 0.75-1.5 of a second quicker than his...I know it's not an exact science - but he did ask for details of the MAFAM I got from Ron.:D

Anyways...certainly happy with my £50 purchase. Fairly easy to fit too - considering i'm no techie when it comes to cars. But I had it fitted and tested in under an hour.

I'll try and do some time tests soon which i'll post up...E.g. 30-50 in 3rd, etc...

I'm very pleased yer glad Earthling and yer time figures and mpg will be above spec, however remember this, your maf is outa spec [hence yer original problem] so if say ya fit a new maf you will get even better performance ,but its your call, best oh luck. . .:)

Oh mighty Ming...my reason fo fitting the MAFAM was it was a cheap alternative to replacing the duff MAF. So if I did replace the original MAF, how much would that set me back? 'bout £200 is what I was expecting, hence the MAFAM for a quarter of the price...but if I do get even more performace boost...hmmm....*rubs hands together with manic grin*

Thanks for the info.

Think i'll quit while i'm ahead then.

I have a tendancy to tweak that little bit too much and the whole thing is likely to go Bang. Does you rocket make that noise too?

You can remove the plastic casing that the maf locates into using a standard torx driver, not sure which size I used, then once out hack saw across the top of those stupid little screws so you can use a small flat screw drive to remove the maff. Worked for me.
