Well I decided to tackle it tonight. I never want to do another. Beer bottles with water to keep the corners down and the bottles of wine got me through it. Not perfect but the old carcass wasn't either

I had to hack into the backs of the moulded corners and glue behind today. I was asking too much stretch of the fake snake skin. If there is a next time, I'd drill holes before covering for a super glue nozzle to access these tricky spots.

Looking good :) - I'm not sure the snake skin would be my choice, but that's totally irrelevant as, last time I looked, it's your LR, and not mine :D

I was persuaded away from a jungle rain forest design (too flowery). The theme is safari. An animal kingdom tratter taxi, an alternative 'trophy' to the package tourist hunter's one. I'm gonna ply the panels, wallpaper then laquer, probably in this from the ardmore collection https://www.cole-and-son.com/en/collection-546/

I like that :) - looks Indian influenced .... my paternal Grandfather was in India in the second world war, so I got exposed to a bit of their culture through him, .... and then my Fathers fascination with the railways "we" designed/built for them, (and they rebuilt quite a bit better :) ), like the Darjeeling and Himalayan .... I had a couple of Indian friends at Uni too.....

I do like this aspect of Deafener ownership - you can customise the thing to the nth degree, and it's still an practical vehicle :) - I might even have one if I didn't have such daft long legs :rolleyes:

Wow. That's a great family reflection. I got as far as a three radius oval Hornby and a couple of mesh mountains plastered with filler in the attic :) There's a lot of people with interesting lives on LZ. Fascinating. It does look Indian-inspired. It's my second choice which I've decided on. I did prefer this by the same maker but it's 350 quid a roll!! :eek::eek: Re: legs, I've got used to it as a 6 footer, granted a 32 inside leg. Even I thought about taking out the bulkhead as the longer legged's do, but after a few weeks I got used to it.

6'2" and 36" inside leg .... which by the time I've got any footwear on, means a Deafener is a no go :(

I do like Deafeners, passed me test in a SIIA, and then grew some more :eek: ....:rolleyes:

Things have moved on since I came back to LR after the Ni$$an ( insert your own description here - mine isn't fit for publication :mad: *) fell in half, as you mention, bulkhead removal is quite common now, and auto's aren't far behind...

* - several years on, I'm glad to be back with LR - D1's rot, I weld it up, It rots somewhere else, I weld that bit up .... etc.... But it's a damn site easier to cope with than the fail a minuit proclivities of the aforementioned piece of junk.

Also, there are some really nice people on here - the few I have met in person have re-inforced my faith in humanity. :)

Back is killer now, so can't squeeze in 'em anymore!! :(

Knees are also agony so no more manuals for me :(

There are downsides to being tall :rolleyes:

6' 8". That's tall. Mind you, anything and everything is modifiable by the looks of it with a landy, maybe even lifting the roof?
 
All the rust exposed (brackets were bad), smoothed, kurusted, sign sikoflexed around the edges and a bit of spray (another tin to buy tomorrow. Sign 7" x 3 1/4's ordered (no background, just an oval line and logo in middle), and HOBBYCRAFT tomorrow for rubber sheets and 1mm plastic sheets to cut 8 inside gutter bracket covers (near perfect template made, the I HOPE it fits the roof (it doesn't look like there's more than an inch to spare between the bed of the rack and the tratter roof).
