This was by far the most challenging lane of the whole weekend and why it gets its own film. If you never do another lane then you should get to Machynlleth. An awesome stretch covering every kind of terrain you can imagine with a half dozen really tricky sections that will really test you. The stone step and the sleeper axle twist being the one’s most likely to catch you out.

I had been panicking about getting back up the stone step having failed so badly last time I did this lane but as it happens all I needed was more power so the TDCi’s bit of on-board electrickery could sort me out.

I hope you all enjoy this one as much as I did driving it.

It's rumoured to be somewhere near Machynlleth If that helps. Now Fook orf to the Introduce yourself section and say Hello...

Was talking to one of the rangers / woodlands management people there there a few weeks ago after we came off that lane. He reckons the area around the lane is probably due for thinning out. He said it was possible that the lane could go same as a lot of other lanes once the big machines move in and opened out and flattened. :(

Heres hoping its not for a long while yet

I cant be sure about this as I don't know the exact location of the lane. But I am planning a trip down there soon and the lane I think it is is currently showing as Tro'd due to forrestery work on trailwise.

The forestry work comments are out of date on Trailwise. It was open in June when I last drove it. Its possible there may be more since then but the original comments are outdated. I have updated TW as much as I can to remove the out of date TRO

Fair enough I will be avoiding it anyway as we have a standard series 3 with us.

A standard S3 wouldn't be a problem. The only issue with my ambulance was rear overhang in a couple of places and if my rear leafs weren't as flat as they are I don't think even that would have been a problem

Ok, well I'll include it then.

I would prefer to go down the waterfall, do we need to start from the west or the east?
