Im looking to get a couple of brake drums resurfaced. The place I usually use has closed down. Im struggling to find anyone else who can do them. Sign of the times I guess, everyone probably orders new now.
Can anyone suggest someone suitable?

Thanks
Colin

Where abouts are you ? They’re not that expensive new though, and for what it would cost to skim nowadays I would bite the bullet on new.

I need a rebore and crank grind now and while there are places around in the north they are charging a pretty penny for the services now. The smaller places that used to do this sort of work for a reasonable price rather than a kidney seem to have gone.
The local place quoted me in the region of 2k for a rebore and a crank regrind, and that is handing them both parts stripped and bare o_O

Just buy new drums. Re-facing only increases the ID anyway, reducing the contact area with the shoes. In my experience it costs about the same to re-face old drums as buying new drums.

Im near Glasgow, at Coatbridge. Its not the new cost that's the issue. They are from an old trailer axel and I cant match them to anything. I ve been to the trailer places, they had similar but couldn't match them.

Oh ok mate. That explains it then. I’m in South Lanarkshire and I know there was a guy near me used to do them. I would need to check he is still there.
