An ex army one works well, holds a good edge. Easily lost if you drop it in greenery though, Also cheap to come by, think mine was around £15 although that was about 7/8 years ago ish
 
Can't be that expensive, they use them in Lundun for opening front doors ...

... and back doors, side doors, van doors, truck doors, the possibilities are many and varied.
 
for brush a proper tool for the job
a bill hook or hedging knife of which i have 2 inherited ones that give good service

I think i prefer the Yorkshire style long handled Bill Hook for laning - you get a longer reach and more force on a cutting stroke.

Yep, mines dated 83 and in a plain green canvas sheath with numbers and old school webbing clips. Even got an arrow stamped on it. (do they still do that?)
Am imagining the local fuzz pulling up a convoy of Landys and finding they're geared up for the zombie apocalypse :D
