Wonder if your edc is early setting?
V8, M57, genuine Bosch stop solenoid - you are a nutter :D
Early P38 M51 setups have an inherent ‘hotstart’ problem, which some clever members here worked a solution. Later models don’t have the issue ofcourse, I presume your M51 didn’t come out of a LR?

You need diagnostics, which unit I’m not sure?, or you’ll go round in circles bud. Stop solenoid can be tested I think - Datatek would know.

The only electrical thing he can have connected is the temp gauge sender. He does not have EDC. What good would diag be to him?

About 10 years ago I sold a spare bw transfer box ebay and a guy collected it in a m51 powered rrc. Pretty sure he said he got his IP from germany

All models of the M51 have hot start problems, changes were made on later cars to try and improve matters but I can assure you that if the chains have stretched hot starting is still a problem as I know from my 99MY project car.
The stop solenoid can be tested with a meter and a battery.

New chains @150000 miles isn’t bad imo, I’d have changed a timing belt way before that

Mine's over that!

I do have a hot-start fitted though. Mind you, with the Beru plugs I barely touch the starter and she fires into life.

Mine does when cold. I also have some gubbings fitted, you may recall my p38 won’t start without it. As you’ve told me from beginning- I’m just tiptoeing around new FIP
