got the CB, aerial, swr meter

when I gutted the interior out i laid a new premade CB aerial lead under the side carpet trim away from other wires as I thought just in case I got interference from them ,one end is behind the panel at the back and the other end behind the centre console

got to sort out a power supply for the CB, expect i will try and get a wire from the battery to the centre console, got a nice place in the bulkhead to pass wires though as I know it can't come off a cig lighter

never installed a CB in a car before , only ever used handheld ones and that was a few years ago
Mines powered from a cig lighter, but the socket is permanently on. I only plug it in for landing trips. I've also got a signal splitter from Thunder pole that let's me use the cb aerial for the car radio as well, much better reception than the old radio aerial

now that sound very interesting

my radios reception is crap

got the CB bracket that goes onto the spare wheel

u would do me a big favour and send me an email explaining how u did it would please , ie pics etc

or if easier put it into the freelander section plse

funny enough I've got a cig lighter that I bought that's got two wires already installed, needs extending to reach the CB , just read in not using it off the cig lighter, but would make my life eaiser

I saw this bit of kit on another forum, and thought it might solve the terrible radio reception I had with the little roof mounted aerial, because a 90 needs a LOUD radio!

The splitter Zetagi DX27 CB Radio Splitter | Filters | THUNDERPOLE doesn't need a power supply, and has really improved the radio reception. It runs off the red flexy aerial shown.

My only proviso is I haven't really used it for CB operations as the opportunity hasn't arisen. I have however picked up somebody's CB message, and it seemed clear enough.I thought it was worth a £20 shot anyway.
Hope this helps!

that's it jinx it,lol , dont forget mines a td4 not a 1.8

yep know the place now, famous last words

can then take a nice slow poodle up there and meet the others along the way

will need to have a break because of my back etc and also to give the two dogs a stretch

so will u be in the fender or disco

we can compile the list over time so we all know where and when to meet

Still not sure . here's a pic think it'll be the 110 if she behaves herself as still breaking the disco in.

Will you be coming up the M11? If so, there's a truck stop at Alconbury where we could meet up.

being honest I haven't looked at the route yet, only the distance and time

will have a look to see in more detail and see if we come pass that way

Makes sense to go M25>M11>A14 if meeting with peeps from up that way, but check for road works around the M1/M6/A14 junction area.

had a look at the map and it's saying m25 then m1

im happy to do what everyone else is doing , afterall it's about everyone on route and diverting to do that isn't a problem for me

a few of us are going to start at the Thurrock services

so does everyone want us who's starting at the Thurrock services to go via the m11 instead of the m1

Cambridge services might be a better site for the meet, I can't get any response from the truck stop, and from the website it looks as though at least the cafe is closed. Boxworth, Cambridge, CB23 4WU

ok mate, thks

sorry for being so dim but always like to ask the dumb questions

we will of course let u know what time we set off

as we may stop off for a break and also to give my dogs a stretch

think as long as we all communicate with each other we can turn it into organised chaos, lol
