hi everyone, so for the past 8yrs or so I've been a suzuki vitara man, great little 4x4's, go anywhere, I'm a shooter, woodland owner and they tend to get you where you need to go, but had always loved land/range rovers, anyway chatting with a shooting friend, he happened to mention he had a diesel freelander for sale, within 2 days I had it on our drive, the kids love it, the room inside is far better than the vitz, my wife hates it, saying its like sitting in a glass house, so rather than sell the vitz, I've told her, to pass her test and she can have it, it also then gives me a back up 4x4, as all I hear is horror stories

have to say both cars are same year, same cc, and even same colour (thats weird) yet the vitz does feel "newer" Im trying to keep and open mind, but we definitely have more noises in the landy, but I'll ignore them for now, items that get the thumbs up, its bigger, more boot space, rear roof comes off (great for lamping) kids love it, items that get thumbs down, electric window switches totally wrong placing, how small did LR want to make that ashtray? do they spend more time in a garage??

Hello and welcome along. Like all vehicles you get good ones and bad ones. Get someone who knows freelanders to check it over. Pop over to the freelander section, loads of info on what to look for.

Welcome from me too, like yourself, I came from 8 years of owning Suzuki Grand Vitara's, first 4 with an XL7 7 seater (wish I had kept that one) then 4 years of a 3 door GV1600 before coming to own a P38 DSE last year after the GV1600 decided to shear the dwell pin in the camshaft pulley.

Hope the Freelander goes well for you, I have been kept busy with the DSE trying to plan one job a month to get it the way I want it.

what is this spell that 4x4's have on us

before I had the vitara, I had a really nice, all mod cons escort, again a mate leaving the country done a good deal on his 3 door vitara, it was basic compared to the escort, but I loved it, even though everyone said I was mad, I eventually got fed up with people calling it a hairdressers car (red) so hand painted it nato green and black DPM camo, and overnight everyone loved it

the freelander is the same as my newer vitara that I have given to the wife, even though they are the same age, the vitara has weathered better, it feels newer, just popped around the corner shop and we deffo have more clunks and grinds, but I cant stop smiling, I LOVE IT

seeing a few posts here I like the idea of having it wrapped, or out comes the rad roller
