Been a while and we're well behind again!

I've had a few other threads on the go, but to cut a really long story short (And some amazing advice from others) - this happened coming home the other day;







Coolant all over the floor - you guys were super helpful and initial thoughts was the water pump - having done the aux belt and tensioner I was armed and ready for the strip down.. At least for that part anyway!

To quickly catch up, purchased some new tools for said belt change and went ahead and did it. Was the day before this breakdown if I remember right!





And by the magic of the tinterweb.. Done

When I've 5 mins i'll transfer across the strip down that's come from this water failure.

(Long story short - valve not operating properly so bit the bullet and bought a new original job from Land Rover

Yeah it spat its toys out the pram at me! Im uploading with imgur now.. trouble is i've uploaded via phone and 3 different PC's so putting them all to one pc and i'll go through and attempt to rebuild all the links.
 
On an unrelated note, this line coming from the ground side of the battery box, this original and can you tell me what it is? If not.. i'll chase it another time and leave it disconnected. Am just faffing about with a few little jobs while i wait to finish my update and the such. Anyone have the part number for the blanking grommit that sits next to the ground would be great too as nothing is fitted there bar some leccy tape.

Seperate note.. this is when i mentioned about having the right colour paint on hand for these sort of touch up jobs. When i was in land rover to grab parts i asked the guy if he knew.. he looked on the system and the truck didnt come up with a code. It is however its original colour when it left as there is no sign anywhere of a different colour

Well.. i found imgur and just cracked on ha.

Just wedged my battery in with some bits of wood as ive nothing to hold it down with. There is holes in the floor so i guess at one time it had a tie down of sorts. Wasnt a problem before as it randomly had 2 batteries in there, one dead one and the connected one. Future plans will be to run 2 batteries as many do so a heads up what sizes you guys run and how you hold them down would be ace. Shame its not perfectly flat in there like the drivers side as that would make life a tad easier. I dont want to run the bat over to the drivers side either.. i have a plan for that space muhahahahaha
 
It's been a hectic little time with the truck, I've had a few threads on the go and ignored this one!

Having figured out from the original owner and the garage he used that the cambelt hadn't been done, sat at 136k she was due!

Some sweat and panic proceeded but I decided to bite the bullet, ordered the kit from Paddocks and have a crack at it myself!

I'm glad I did it! I had a proper mechanic on site giving me a hand where required but his knowledge and the oxyacetylene came in most useful for that damn bloody pulley bolt! I agreed with him to have the garage spot for 2 days to crack on with a list of jobs I wanted to do. There are a few more I wasn't able to do in this time. Of note - yes I'm slow but also it wasn't 2 full days in my defence!

When I cleaned out my intake during the first big strip down (the coolant loss) I noticed a split in that gasket, when I ordered my cambelt kit I also ordered the inlet/exhaust gasket. Oil down that side of the block I believe was coming from that said split gasket - time will tell.

Along with the cambelt, I proceeded to go ahead and do a fluids change, start to build up my own 'service history' as it were and start to tick off the list!

Firstly, the breakdown! As described above (still no pic's.. they will come I promise I've just not had "PC" time only phone use for the forum)

Coolant all over the floor - this led to a 'rebuild' rather than a 'fix' - 20 year old truck I tried to fix what I could while I had it off. Turns out it was the P gasket not the waterpump. During the strip down of that lot I fitted the new P gasket, new waterpump and gasket and the new Y piece from res to rad. I also sent the radiator off to Arrow Radiators in Avonmouth (quick turnaround cheers!) to have it re-cored as its the nice copper/brass jobby with the metal oil cooler not an alu/plastic affair. Was a 50/50 choice but went for the rebuild.

Top hoses were replaced before because of a split in the system when I bought it. Thermostat was also changed at this point although the other one looked new and fresh was just covering my back here. The stupid plastic bungs have metal jobbies in now - this was done before in first page when I was sorting top hose.

Ok - garage time. 136k on the clock - Aug 17

Fitted up that inlet/exhaust manifold, all the bolts came undone nicely and was able to pry the manifold back out the way without removing down pipe etc so made this quite a simple fix, which I was glad of!

Fitted new oil filter and oil.
Fitted new fuel filter
Dropped both diff oil's and refilled
Dropped transferbox oil and refilled
Dropped gearbox oil and refilled
Worth noting I obviously wiped off the magnetic plugs but before refilling I had a good go round to pick up any extra debris.
Fitted new cambelt and tensioner

Too add for 'service times'

P gasket
Waterpump
Aux belt
Aux tensioner

Fluids didn't seem 'too' bad as I caught them all in trays so I could take a look.

Todays plan of action is to catch up with a friend of mine and take the day to get to the bottom of my electrical nightmares I'm having!

The brake and clutch fluids are on my list just not done at this point.

Guys, the follow on from photos. Because of photo-****-it nothing is in order etc anymore and I'm losing the will to live to try and piece it all back together. Page one has a big splash of random photos though.

Wow so loads have been going on since I last visited this. Got soo annoyed with the picture upload malarkey.

I'll read back through and update on the 110 (lulu) but I've gone and got myself a 90 (Finley) for playing off road with! Bitten off way more than I can chew as per usual. Also I'm now sharing a unit with a few friends here in Bristol (Coffee provided if you wanna help a man out!) so here is a quick glimpse of the project in question. I'll get back on this a bit later to start filling in all the blanks if this upload actually works!

Nope, the 90 was a pre-wedding purchase to avoid the divorce! She absolutely hates yellow, so that's going. Myself, I wanted this to be a mud bogger and a dented up ratty truck was right up my street - after our trip out I have a few lists of wants, and one is to be able to do the 'scratchy' stuff without any worries (and I loved the colour/state of it - I should have however realised that it being so bad outside means I'm going to be doing lots of welding!). So plan B will be to do as Tom has done to his truck and just raptor it. The 110 for her age is a good clean straight truck. I'll be welding whats needed (well, getting friends to help me) and if its dented it'll get a forcible blow with a hammer and that's me calling it a day. I'm busy downloading photo's and stuff to the computer so I can start to do some updates again now I've got this image uploader thing figured out. I've many updates for the 110 to come and her little brother Finley - Interestingly the engine is bob on, and that's going to be going if I have my way. Its currently got a 200tdi from a disco fitted in it.

Watch this space as they say - probably be tomorrow morning before picture updates start coming
