Think Ill have to make do with this , till I can afford one of then fancy sprayers.:D

If you remove the gearbox tunnel, you can fill from above using a bit of old hosepipe and a funnel. It’s easy and MUCH faster than the garden sprayers. Having said all that, I have 2 sprayers now, one for EP90, one for ATF.

Kin hell mate, thats going to take friggin ages!
I know warm fluids flow better than cold, but does the bottle not melt in the toaster??
:)Just reminded me there to let it run for a bit to warm oil up before draining.

Depending on what size hose I can fit might try funnel as Mick suggested ,might be a bit quicker.

Forgot to ask whats this plug for next to reverse light switch, Looks like a plug for Pouring something in ?

blanks the hole used to fit and remove the top selector shaft, generally a core plug you could fill through there
Thanks I'm on with it now, ran engine for good half hour, then took both plugs out, hardly any Oil has come out not even half a litre , it's stopped now, do either that's all that was in or I've done something wrong. Shall I refit plugs and fill again ?

the box will breathe a sigh of relief with some actual oil in it

That looks pretty poor old oil!

I would say refill it, then run it for a while, no funny noises no worries, but maybe change the oil again in a few months.

You need to drive it to get the oils warm not just the engine.
That oil looks awful. I would be tempted to refill and run it good and hot and redrain/refill again to flush it clean(er).
Edit- lynall beat me to it.

Sounds good idea.
I'd check your diff oils asap too.
Both Axle's been done going to do Transfer box next

All Done, Transfer box too, there was a lot more oil came out of that one. ran it for Half hour no leaks. Left it a few hours just been up to check and still no leaks.
Was Very surprised at how little oil there was in gearabox, not even half a litre, It came like that so not sure if it was driven like that before it was finally stripped.
Anyway there was a couple of niggely noise on before and Id hoped this oil change would have stopped them but it has not.
One is on Clutch like a rumble but when clutch is pressed it goes away, should be able to hear it in Vid.
The other is like a whine in first gear, goes away after second, will post Vids up in a bit.
Thanks Everyone for help in this as always.

Mine was much the same when I bought it 8 odd years ago, I have changed the oil a few times since, and its still the same box.

Was worried if it had been driven like that it would have bound to cause some damage but not sure.
. Mind you the gears are much smoother to go in now, after new oil.
Like James said, it must of been a big sigh of relief for it .
will post Vids soon

First one is the Whine in First gear sorry not very good vid but you should just about here it at end.
Second is noise on Clutch.

Maybe Im going deaf, but first one sounds like normal defender to me? second one would not worry me either, bet when the mats are all back down and radio on, you wont even hear it.
