As above, is there a complete kit available to fix the pudding stirrer I currently have?

not really you need to ascertain where wear is , lower lever and turret ?grub screw in yoke ?bias springs etc

Oh right, can all of that be checked/replaced with the 'box still in the car?

yes if you remove tunnel, to remove selector top housing you would have to remove the 2 mounts and drop box on a jack an inch or 2
