I was approaching a roundabout the other day and as I came down the gears couldn't select anything. After about 10 seconds of frantic wiggling I managed to get first but took a lot of 'persuasion'. I seemed to be able to change ok after that, although seemed 'notchy' on each change. I was also doubling the clutch, not sure if it helped or not. Do you think I've got a problem with the selector / linkage or is a new box the likely cure? All advice greatly appreciated oh wise ones.

I forgot to add. It appeared to be trying to 'drive' a bit even with the clutch pedal fully down.

It does sound like a clutch hydraulic fault. Could also be thrust bearing (although I'd expect a lot of noise) or clutch arm wearing through.
