Does anyone have a list of bearing numbers for the LT230 transfer box. I am looking for the bearing manufacturers part numbers not the Land Rover numbers.

If you have a box already then the numbers will be on the bearings. You will have to strip it & sometimes they can be so faint as to be illegible. If that is the case then you could take the bearing to a bearing specialist company who should be able to identify a suitable bearing by measuring the old.
If not, you may have to ask someone like Ashcroft if they will let you have the manufacturer's bearing numbers.

Cheap rebuild kits aren't a good idea. The bearings might be fine but the seals probably won't be!

cheers i was hoping to get bearings from local supplier in advance of stripping the box

They MAY be able to cross reference the LR part numbers to Timken etc. Best bet is to go into a bearing specialist & ask.

Or just buy the bearing and seal kits straight from Ashcroft who'll supply high quality Timkin/GKN bearings and correct grade seals. There's a bloody reason I placed the Ashcroft link for the OP

Not me you have to convince....

Don't know whether the OP thinks that all kits will come with dodgy stuff or is thinking it will be cheaper to source all the bits separately from bearing stockists.

@adrian hogg as already said save time and just get them from ashcroft. They're excellent and any issues they'll send new ones out no qiuestions asked

I used an Ashcroft kit some years ago to rebuild the transfer box in my 200TDI. I found the quality to be excellent and when I had a query I got friendly, professional advice.

Present main gearbox (LT77) needs an output shaft (worn splines), I'll go to Ashcroft again for peace of mind.

Paul
