just booked a weekend camping + 2 slots on the off road course for the upcoming lro show in peterborough.
thing is i'm starting to have second thoughts about the off roading bit cos
A- ive never done it before and
B- ive got a freelander:( .
question is has anyone here taken a freelander round the course and how did it cope.
mine is modified a bit, it has bearmach rocksliders, a 2"lift and steel wheels with 215/75/15 bridgestone dueler mud tyres on so is more capable than a standard freelander.
maybe i'm just being a girl and should just go for it even if i have to come home on the back of my mates recovery truck.
what do you lot think?

what the hell, it will be a laugh, not worried about water though, went through a ford on holiday last year that was a tad deeper than it looked(up to the top of the wheel arches)and she got through and the clutch mechanism did'nt even seize up like they usually do.
i'll be taking my camcorder with me so if i **** up i'll stick it on youtube so you can all laugh at me:D

dont worry about it mate, we are having two routes to go round the hard bits, just like we did with drifield, yarwel is a closed site, so only normaly used for challenge events and corporate event days, and there are always us marshals on hand to help you out, just enjoy your self and take your time,

only a few days left till i break the gaylander now:D .looking forward to it now, went camping the other weekend nr stone henge so while i was there did a few lanes on salisbury plain, had a right laugh.
just got to scrape all the mud off the bottom of the motor now:(

nah that was a "half way along the lane and stopped for a fag pic" there wasn't that much wet stuff about but had a lot of clumps of grass stuck in every nook and cranny underneath. also descovered that the 2 towing eyes on the rear suspension make supurb ploughs:D

My Freelander handled everything the my Discovery can handle with the exception of ground clearance, in other words pulled through some serious mud and crap when we went greenlaning with it the one and only time, then I bought my Disco for a more serious offroad play toy, mine is a TD4 and had plenty enough grunt when needed, even recovered a Series from the mud - oh how we laughed :D

just got back from the lro show, creamed the off road course and didn't even break the freelander. who says hippos don't like mud?

i'm already suffering the consequences though. don't know if it's just a coincedence but my crank shaft oil seal has gone and its chucking oil out all over my drive:mad:

its your landys way of saying thanks....... offroading will show any weak spots that were on thier way anyway like my swivel and rear x-member
