Morning all.

Anyone have any issues with this supplier?

I recently ordered a p gasket, water pump gasket and some core plugs, all genuine LR parts (only a few pounds extra so I thought, no point scrimping).

However, only the p gasket was in an LR bag. I have no idea if the other parts are genuine or not as they were unbranded and not in any kind of LR packet.

The core plugs are bugging me most as they have a small raised 'lip' running round the bottom edge, but it only runs about three quarters round the plug, so I'm wondering if it should go all the way round and this is a sign of poor manufacturing quality, i.e. not a genuine part??

(p.s. I have written the same query to LRDirect)

what were the part numbers on the stuff as often you can tell ,not all genuine stuff has lr packing core [lugs should be smooth all the way round as the lip is supposed to sit and seal just inside hole

P gasket - PET100790
Water pump gasket - ERR3284
Core plugs - ERC4996

But, LRDirect indicate same part number for each of the replacement part options and the LR original.

Your comment sounds like the 'lip' on the core plugs should go all the way round, hence my suspition that they're not genuine LR parts.

id say your core plugs at least are very poor ,they have to seal on lip edge so this should be the widest part of plug i would say helping to confirm your suspicions if not proving, i asked about numbers as britpart indicate if genuine with G on end of number or LR if from lr

Credit where it's due. See below very quick response from LR Direct to my query:

Thank you for your email.
I can understand your concerns but please let me assure you that if genuine parts are ordered then that is what is sent. Also not all parts have Land Rover stamps or markings, they generally are just on the more expensive parts.
In a lot of cases we have to buy parts in larger quantities which is why not all parts are sent out in Land Rover bags. In the case of your plugs I have attached a picture of the invoice from Land Rover and the remaining 2 plugs in the Land Rover bag as we had to buy 5.
I can see what you are referring to about the slight raised rim, this is just part of the casting as does not affect the functionality of the part.
As the P gaskets are supplied in singles they can be sent in their own bag but the water pump gaskets only come in 10's so we keep them in the bags in our stores so that their is no confusion with other brands.
I hope I have answered your questions satisfactorily, if you have any further concerns then please do not hesitate to contact me.

They are the best place I have found, the service is excellent and I only buy from them now as everywhere else has either been poor service, or parts or both.

I dont work for them BTW lol

Lets not also forget that even genuine landrover parts are not known for there quality sometimes!

The post has been rubbish recently , I have had two big probs with royal mail this month. there must be something going on at post office central

I know what you mean, spoken to them this morning, LR direct going to send me another one out. Been on with fedex this morning, as well rang them at 8 only to be to be told by the rudest woman on the phone that it does not matter that their web site says they open at 730, "this" branch does not open till 830. At least they dropepd it off in the end.
