Hi,

I've been asked via LR to design and develop something in the digital world that LR owners will want in terms of information, advice, gadgets, tools and the like that will make LR Owners lives that much better.

So my question is, what could LR offer you online/digitally/mobile that would be of benefit to you? - it doesn't have to be LR related.

Personally I love the Trails GPS tracker on my iphone because i can geotag all my photos from the weekend. The GPS compass is pretty good too.

In terms of info - what I'd like (owning a D90 myself) is more connections to events that i can do at the weekend.

On a side note it would be quite good if they could link up my travel insurance instead of me traipsing around to get something signed up.

Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thats a hell of a wide spec... information systems will be varied - gimmiks and gadgets is going to take a little thought but there will be so many!

For one thing a small voice activated on board PC with MM and routing capabilies would be really nice if it were made to be robust enough -

Inclusion of driven routes and reviews available through gprs update might be nice.

Ability to query an international database that covers LR and leading manufacturers like Asgcroft to establish delivery times and availability of particular items a for info to the overlander who gets himself knackered in Laos needing a new gearbox perhaps.


If they really want to help.... have them put a diff lock in my rear axle!

LR could give us all back the sheet metal that disappeared from our discos/defenders and turned to rust...

that would be a good start :D
 
An immobiliser that actually prevents vehicles being stolen would be a good start.
 
Going down the gps idea route, I'd quite like an app that tells me where my landy is at all times.

And possibly have a setting that would arm an alarm on my phone to tell me if the landy moves from where I last left it.
 
and if it could tazer the driver at the same time, then that would be brilliant!

.....and if not asking too much, chop his balls off too. :D

Ask them if we can have a iPhone app that we can plug into our cars that allows us to change our cars setting as well as reset and scan errors codes.

That would so Soooooooooooooo Cool.

Tell them that would be cool - go on tell em.

I might even buy a fecking iPhone if you could develop an app for that

I personally dont want this feature on my Landy. I'm bound to forget to turn off said alarm at some point and would end up receiving a photo of myself being tazered and having my balls cut off :eek:

Not good.
 
An iPhone diagnostics app that connects to the car would be great. Not sure how you would do the hardware bit as apple are quite restrictive on that side of things.

I think maybe a wifi or Bluetooth type device would be the best answer.

How about a GENERIC SMART PHONE APPLICATION WHICH WORKS ON MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS for car diagnostics?

The world's gone iphone mad. I'd understand it if the iphone was any good. but it clearly isnt.
