What's it made from ? Is it the tank itself thats leaking or one of the connectors on the end?

New tank, you don't weld them for obvious reasons :mil88:
Not hard to fit if you know what you're doing, if you don't have the foggiest about the gas system, entrust a LPGA qualified person to do it. Either way you need an LPGA qualified person, as the system has to be safety approved, else you wont get insurance on your vehicle and it is also a criminal offense to drive it on public roads on LPG (or with LPG in the tanks) if the certificate either never existed or is invalid (one way of invalidating the certificate is by a non qualified person carrying out work on the system i.e. fitting a new tank without having the work checked).
Don't just slack it off, if the police catch you with a tank like that, Fines, Points on license, and more importantly you will lose your car as it would be deemed dangerous for use on the public road. Don't forget, an in some respects an LPG converted car is basically one big bomb, if it's neglected and left with a damaged tank say, its a big bomb waiting to blow, it's only a matter of time till something will go wrong.

Are you sure it is actually leaking gas? or just frozen condensate on the outside melting off?

Tried it on a friends farm, he had a Toyota something with LPG, was due to be scrapped anyway, so we had some fun with it, 5 liters of petrol, a lighter and a very long petrol soaked string later, well there just wasn't much left, a big crater really, not much of the car!! Normal car explosions are bad enough, with a compressed flammable gas its even more fun!! Will try and find some pictures what we took afterward, it's really something!!Probably wasn't worth all that petrol to get rid of the car, but it was worth it just to see the thing blow up, was a horrible car!!
Worst bit was, we had to plow our crater back into the ground as the landowner wasn't very impressed to say the least!

The best thing would be to get a LPG fitter to do the full job plus issue you with a cert for it.

There are none as far as I am aware, your insurance company may require it though.

It must have a legit certificate else NO insurance company will even give you a second glance. No insurance... Buggered. Seen petrol Series landys running LPG (well, a 9kg calor gas bottle and some dodgy kit bought of eBay) on farms, no cert or owt, thats farmers in north yorkshire for you, need a cheap and economical vehicle to get them round fields.
Don't need to be serviced, but for you own piece of mind, I would get it checked at least once a year, then if anything isn't right you know rather than driving a potential bomb without knowing.
Any work needs to be either done by a qualified installer or installed by yourself and checked by a qualified installer who will then write you an up to date certificate.

Don't know where you could pick one up, one went on eBay for £35 + £20 courier, cant find any on there now.
IMO you really should get in contact with a local LPG firm and get them to quote for a repair, yell.com should be able to find you an LPG firm, if not, I know a local firm that I can get the number of, they should be able to advise you of where to go, or if they cant help you they will know the number for the LPGA people who have the definitive list of places that are legit.

Needs to be there though, if you get stopped by the police (for whatever reason), they check the cert, or they should.

and what happends when the cert expires? it aint a legal requirement to have it serviced so ur left with an expired cert

when i 1st bought my motor about 2 years ago i was at the chaps house waiting to drive it home and phoned my insurance company, when asked if it has any mods i told them it had LPG, the bemused girl then asked what that was and i tried to explain, she then asked me "does it make it go any faster?" to which i replied laughing "no if anything it makes it go even slower" she then said "well ok then nevermind" and that was that. Ive never been asked to provide any certificate which is probably quite lucky as the skanky git never sent on the "misplaced" cert.
Ive recently got friendly with a guy who is a certified LPG fitter and hes just been sorting my system out recently and making it run better so next time i see him im going to ask him to have a look over it properly for me for piece of mind.
