Hey lads,

I've been looking at a P38 (again) and if the the vibration issue isn't something horrible i thinking of buying it.

So i've did a test drive today. Car starts ok, runs fine, steering is smooth however, accelerating from stop or low speed there are some little vibrations which i can feel in the steering, you can even hear it vibrating in the dashboard. It's not present at higher speeds, it's only there when taking off really. Any thoughts?

it needs investigating before buying.one of the clever ones will be along soon with an array of answers.

It could be anything, Mystic Meg will be online later.;):D Get under and check the drive train as already advised and check the mountings as well.

Ok, but drive train and mounts are not that difficult to fix. I'm willing to accept the car as is and fix it myself (or have it fixed) unless you guys tell me it could be something which might be the end of the car (like slipping liners :p )

Its impossible to say without seeing and testing it. you will need to inspect carefully before parting with any cash

I'd be prepared for slipped liners with any Rover V8 over 3.5L. :(
Slipping liners will usually be a tapping sound, worse when engine is warmed up & / or massive coolant loss.
