Hi all

When im driving long distance and every thing is nice and warm i notice that when i drop the engine down to idle the low oil pressure light illuminates and dosnt go of till i hit 1000rpm. Now i know that there is plenty of engine oil in her and she dosnt burn any oil, so i woundering if this could be down to her needing an oil change what do you guys think is the oil thinging out when she is warm?

She is a 300tdi.

many thanks
Kyle

Snap
after 15 mins of running on a dual carriage way same happened to me

Changed the oil pressure switch and never again.
simple and cheap job get it done first

other than that search the forum, as there are 2 other rasons it can happen

worn bearing shells and someat else

all more expensive than the other, pressure switch cheapest and easiest to try first

I pulled up at a junction sharpish an the oil light came on so i thought oil low...no It kept flickering at low idle did this for 1 day. Searched on here and after reading, change the oil and pressure switch...sorted...i hope

Well the new pressure switch arrived today so oil change tomorrow so hopefully that solves it.

Same thing with my Disco 300 TDI, the light started coming on at below 1500 rpm after the engine had fully warmed up. I replaced the switch last week and the problem seems to have gone away.

This happened to mine too . After towing my caravan or hard driving , it flickered . Good quality oil change later and still the same . I'll chance the o.p.s to see if it cures it
