So it was a d22 model which you had, which had the engine problems normally blowing piston out on no3 and 4 cyclinders. Normally down to poor servicing causing the under piston oil galleries to block causing the engine to throw the rods. I must have rebuilt 10 of them engines in mine time with nissan, normal mileage range was 50k to 90k. Service time was 6 months or 6k miles was it a known area of concern maybe???? I worked on the nissan brand for near on 6yrs main dealer and the d22 was better than the d40 which is now made.

I've had both a D22 & D40 Navara, never had a major fault with either but I must say the D22 was a better motor, I serviced it every 6k and my D40 which had longlife (****life) service intervals was done every 8k. I'd not think twice about buying either again!

But back to L322 mpg, yep the TD6 can be lazy and greedy! There defo not my cup of tea, give me a big V8 anyday.. But a good service and a check on a code reader can solve a lot of bad consumption problems.

54 plate truck it always started had a service every 9000miles and had done 110k I got £3700 for it against the Range.
Made of tin though and a sore RS after 100 mile they are the workhorse but I wear a suit to work and wanted not to look like I was about to quote for a driveway

Cheeky bugger, take the ear ring out then:D:D:D:D

@OP, steve,

blank off your EGR with a £30-50 kit. This makes it run better and gives better MPG by about 2-3 mpg according to those who've had it done. Also think about changing your MAF (think thats what it's called - one of the big air filters anyway!)

You should get an avge of 25 mpg and at 75 around 28 on a motorway cruise. I did 2,000 miles to the alps and came back averaging 28mpg at 80 mph.

An EGR blanking kit is a waste of cash, just disable the valve, simply done on the P38 by removing the vacuum pipe from the EGR diaphragm. Stick a screw in the end of the rubber pipe to stop it hissing.
