i have a disco 3, 500 miles on clock its a manual and iam only getting 19 to the gallon any suggestions? it says in the book average should be 25 to the gallon is anybody getting better than that?

IMHO, the engine is still being run in, so all parts are not mated to each other yet so there is still more friction than a higher mileage vehicle, so thats just down to time. The other things are, check tyre pressures, try not to use the Air con to much, drive with more anticipation so as to avoid stopping/braking and having to wind her up again.. :), are there any things that may cause drag, roof racks etc..?? (Other than the size of the vehicle lol)

Also the manual states "average" which is a kinda caveat emptor, so you could get better or worse :/

Any more ideas/suggestions peps..??

Are you diesel or petrol???
My diesel (1,200 on the clock) is returning 32 mpg on long journey mainly dual carriageway and 25-27 mixed town/dual carriageway/off road.

We have the auto disco and its got about 24-26mpg since new. When we tested the manual one that about 30mpg most of the time. Maybe you should call the dealer you got it from, as 19mph is basicly what we get pulling a horse trailer... Sounds like you may have a problem
